Japan Approves Protein-Bound Paclitaxel for Patients With Breast Cancer

LOS ANGELES -- July 26, 2010 -- The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in Japan has approved Abraxane IV Infusion 100 mg, Paclitaxel Injection (suspension with albumin) for use in the treatment of breast cancer. There are approximately 50,000 cases of breast cancer in Japan.

With the approval in Japan, Abraxane is now approved in 40 countries. Abraxane is also being developed in Japan for the treatment of lung and gastric cancers and other solid tumours by Abraxis BioScience, Inc., with Taiho Pharmaceutical.
