Merck Sharp & Dohme Limited ("MSD") announced the results from a new trial comparing an anti-emetic regimen containing a single IV dose of fosaprepitant dimeglumine to one with three days of oral aprepitant.

Province approves cancer drugs

Nova Scotia has approved funding for a new treatment for advanced kidney cancer and two other drugs to lessen the side effects of treatment for some patients.

The province is one of the first in Canada to approve Torisel, which is the only existing treatment for a form of advanced kidney cancer that affects about 15 per cent of people with kidney cancer, manufacturer Wyeth Canada said in a release.

FDA Safety Changes: Boniva, Emend, Clozaril

February 25, 2009 — The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved safety labeling revisions to warn of the risk for upper gastrointestinal tract effects and hypocalcemia in patients receiving ibandronate sodium, the need for back-up oral contraceptive measures during and after aprepitant therapy, and drug interactions with clozapine that can decrease therapeutic efficacy and increase the risk for adverse events.
