Ziopharm drug delays sarcoma growth 77 pct -study

LOS ANGELES, May 20 (Reuters) - Treatment with Ziopharm Oncology Inc's (ZIOP.O) experimental drug delayed by 77 percent the time it took for sarcoma tumors to grow, according to results from a mid-stage study.

Patients treated with a combination of the Ziopharm drug, palifosfamide, and chemotherapy drug doxorubicin, lived for a median of 7.8 months before their cancer worsened, compared with 4.4 months for the group treated only with doxorubicin....
