Temozolomide increased risk for death in elderly patients with malignant glioma

CHICAGO — Temozolomide did not produce an OS equal to treatment with radiation therapy in elderly patients with anaplastic astrocytoma or glioblastoma, according to results from the phase-3 NOA-08 trial.

In fact, Wolfgang Wick, MD, medical director of the department of neuro-oncology at Heidelberg University Hospital, said it appears that temozolomide increased the risk for death in these patients.
